The Spirit of the North
Our Town
The Town of Spiritwood is an agricultural centre situated in the North Central Parkland District. Despite being a small town with just under 1000 residents, Spiritwood is a lively, thriving community. With the largest population within an 80km radius, our town is the community hub of the geographic area.
We are proud of our healthy and vibrant economy, supported primarily by grain production and livestock production. Our enthusiastic business community and service clubs all work toward the enhancement of the area, allowing our residents to enjoy fully modern accommodation, education, medical, dental, retail, and government services.
And, most notably, the abundance of lakes and parks nearby enhances the quality of life with camping, boating, fishing, golfing, hunting, snowmobiling, and hiking.
Our Community
The Rural Municipality of Spiritwood No. 496 first formed on December 9, 1929 and expanded to amalgamate Shell Lake No. 495 on December 31, 1953. We are located in the north central region of the province.
The lakeshore developments of Aspen Ridge Estates, Green Jewel Estates, Sunset Rim Estates, Angus Estates, Misty Grove, The Cove, South Shore Ridge and the Organized Hamlet of Spruce Bay are all governed by the RM.
The Town of Spiritwood, Villages of Leoville and Shell Lake, and Resort Villages of Big Shell and Echo Bay are self-governing entities that are located within the geographical boundaries of the RM.
Memorial Lake Regional Park and Meeting Lake Regional Park, as well as Witchekan Lake First Nation & Pelican Lake First Nation, also lie within the boundary of the RM of Spiritwood.
Northern Lakes Economic Development Corporation (NLEDC)
The Northern Lakes Economic Development Corporation (NLEDC) was created in 2009 out of a desire to ignite a new spark of momentum for economic development for the Town of Spiritwood and surrounding communities.
